About Me
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Texas. I received my Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I also completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and a two-year postdoctoral neuropsychology fellowship/residency at the Baylor College of Medicine / TIRR Memorial Hermann. My clinical training included multiple inpatient and outpatient settings in academic medical centers and the community.
My approach to therapy is primarily grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Humanistic Psychology. My approach to couple's therapy is also grounded in the Gottman approach. However, I strongly believe that the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. I prefer flexibility and relationship-building in therapy as opposed to implementing manual-based techniques.
I have a particular interest in hospice/palliative issues, existential issues, adjustment issues, and chronic mood disorders. I see a limited number of psychotherapy clients in addition to my full-time work as a clinical neuropsychologist, and I may not always be accepting new clients. As such, I am not a good fit for someone with more severe symptoms requiring intensive psychotherapy.
If you have any questions or are curious if we are a good fit, please schedule a free phone consultation. I look forward to speaking with you, learning more about you, and being an advocate for you and your experience in life!
